Alex Samaha is a multimedia artist and graphic designer who uses surrealist and symbolist imagery to convey his personal experiences and the experiences of those around him to promote empathy, community, and open-mindedness. He believes art can be used to expand society’s empathy by showing people what it’s like to walk in someone else’s shoes. He works with a variety of mediums but specializes in acrylic painting. Alex also does papermaking and printmaking. 

Alex found his passion for painting during quarantine in 2020. After weeks of being inside, he started teaching himself to paint and later took art classes once school resumed. His dream is to support himself entirely through his art and to one day open his own physical studio.

Flying Squirrel Studio is named after Alex’s pet flying squirrel, Copper.
